where you lead, i will follow

So, the CW is now airing the promo for the series finale of GG. I haven't watched the show in a year and a half, but last night on every commercial break, I was getting a little teary when it aired.

I used to love that show like crazy. Watching the DVDs is one of the rare things my mom and I enjoy together. The summer before college started, they were playing this huge montage promo set to "Ballerina" by Leona Naess and ending with the scene from the S4 premiere of Rory saying wistfully, re: college, "I just hope it's everything I want it to be," and my mom and I both criiiied every single time that promo aired.

But now it's over. And even though since the Palladinos left and took their taste in music with them, and we don't get kickass musical montage promos anymore (remember that S5 promo set to "Shh" by Frou Frou?), and the series finale promo was pretty average, I'm still nostalgic and stuff.

So, a small picspam of some of the good times in the early years.

I shipped these two SO HARD.

And I still have enough caps from the concert scenes to scroll through them and make it look like a mini-movie.

"I think this is the best night I ever had."

"I've been going to this school for nine years and I'm the French soda monitor."

This is still my favorite episode in the show's run.

"I can't imagine living anywhere else."

"I'm ready to wallow now."

NO REALLY I SHIPPED THEM LIKE CRAZY.

"There should be a thousand yellow daisies."

GOOD TIMES, AMIRITE?

AHAHAHAHA

"Nothing in my life is fair."

"I don't think there's any exact definition for what we are."

"Rory wouldn't lie."

Remember when Paris set off on her mission to find the seedy underbelly of Stars Hollow?!

I'm in crazy love with this cap: Paris' room looks so adult, full of giant books and antique furniture...but she still has her ratty old stuffed bunny. That's SO PARIS.

And remember when Paris had her meltdown on C-SPAN?

"I didn't get into Harvard. I had sex, but I didn't get into Harvard. If you had asked me last year which I thought was more likely, it would not have been not getting into Harvard. She didn't have sex, she'll probably get in! Pack up the chastity belt, Gilmore, you're going to Harvard!"

I MISS THEM BEING LIKE THIS.

"I really hated you."
"Yeah. I really hated you, too."

"Luke? Don't get engaged."

Best deleted scene ever.

But it always comes back to this:

I MISS YOU, SHOW.

I MISS IT TOO. T_T

Best deleted scene? ? Care to expand? :D

I can't believe you didn't have any Kirk shots--! But, all the Paris ones more than make up for it. (PARIS)

I don't have my DVDs with me; everything that's here is what happened to be in my cap folder, and almost every single cap is from Paris/Rory scenes (I think I had every non!Paris/Rory cap I had is included in the post).

It was from the S3 finale, when the Independence Inn was closing, and Lorelai and Rory were standing in the empty building, just sort of saying goodbye to it. There was some very cool camerawork as the camera sort of swirled around them in spots, and as the camera would spin, the younger versions of Lorelai and Rory would step in and out of the shot, replaying old memories from when they lived there years ago. It was just really bittersweet and nicely-done.

I'm glad! I really was crazy about the show back in the day; I was so sad when the time came for us to break up. But now I'm going to remember the good times! Back before Luke had an illegitimate daughter!

*mourns GG's downfall*
i really hated that plot

*mourns with you*

Did anybody really like it? I'm glad I bailed then. I think the only part of S7 I've seen was when I went to the trouble of hunting down the clip on YouTube of Luke punching Christopher in the face. I'll probably watch the finale for old time's sake though.

Oh! OH! Gilmore Girls! This makes me so sad. For what the show used to be, not the empty, hollow shell of it's former self that keeps plugging along like a TV-zombie.

I used to love this show SO MUCH. Rory and Paris!!! Oh man. I wish I had more of the earlier seasons on DVD, I only have the 5th season because it was on sale at Best Buy.

I'm gonna miss it, even though it was horrible for the last two years.

I MISS IT. It was actually the first serious TV relationship I've had where we had to break up. (Unless you count SV, where it was less of a breakup and more of a point in S4 where I decided that the show was an unhealthy addiction, and I needed to go to rehab, and I tried to stop watching cold turkey, and it worked for a few months, but then there was "Commencement" and suddenly I was back on the SV smack again as if I'd never left.)

But yeah!! I can't believe you only have S5!! My mom keeps trying to buy S6 at Target when we're shopping together, and I'm like, "Moooom, do you REALLY want to relive Luke's illegitimate daughter storyline all over again on DVD?" and then she always looks sad and puts it back on the shelf. But the first three season boxsets are always on heavy rotation at our house.

And now our new cable plan doesn't get The CW (my parents sacrificed it for HBO), so I had to call and tell my mom that GG was ending, and she was all upset. So I'm gonna download it before leaving school, and watch the last episode together with her. Maybe we can have a marathon of the early years and remember how it USED TO BE. CRY.
