SO HEY GUYS YOU KNOW MY ABUSIVE BOYFRIEND?

IT TURNS OUT HE REALLY LOVES ME DEEP DOWN AND WE'RE WORKING THROUGH OUR ISSUES AND HE CLAIMS TO SEE THE ERROR OF HIS WAYS AND TO HAVE GAINED AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHY KICKING ME IN THE STOMACH IS WRONG! I'VE AGREED TO TRY TO REMAIN SOBER IN HIS PRESENCE!

SO THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT IS THAT WE'RE GOING TO GET A CAT TOGETHER.

YEAH, YOU HEARD ME. I'M GETTING A CAT WITH SMALLVILLE.

I KNOW. IT'S CRAZY. TRUST ME, I KNOW HOW UNSTABLE OUR RELATIONSHIP HAS BEEN SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. THIS IS THE LAST SHOW I EVER THOUGHT ABOUT GETTING A CAT WITH. IF YOU TOLD ME A WHEDON SHOW WOULD BE ON THE AIR AND I WOULD BE WANTING TO GET A CAT WITH FUCKING SMALLVILLE INSTEAD, I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE FULL OF SHIT.

BUT I REALLY FEEL WE'RE COMMITTED TO EACH OTHER NOW.

I SENSE A FUTURE FOR US.

LIFE'S JUST FUCKING CRAZY SOMETIMES.

I LOVE that Chloe's bed-hair is perfectly curled in her dream sequence. Obviously it's for meta reasons (see: bottom of this post) but who doesn't dream that their hair could be perfectly styled at all times?

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SCENE IS AMAZING OKAY

"Chloe, we met in a flurry of smoking ash, burnt-out cars, people freaking out. But for a moment there, I felt like everything disappeared except us. Those feelings haven't changed."

Smoking ash, burnt-out cars, people freaking out, everything disappearing except them, unchanging feelings? CHECK, CHECK, CHECK...

Basically, just imagine everything Davis says in this sequence with Clark saying it instead.

"Without you, the man I want to be doesn't exist."

Yeah.

J! IS FOR JIMMY!
J! IS FOR JUNKIE!
I'LL KILL YOUR FUCKING DOG FOR FUN SO DON'T PUSH ME!!!

DOCTOR GAETAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Weird fact: I had a huge crush on JH when he was on Passions. Then he came to SV and I realized, as it wasn't evident on Passions (since...it was Passions), that he can not act except with his abs (which put in powerful performances omg).

I totally find him charming as hell in interviews, but Ollie does nothing for me?! Except JH has a super pretty neck. NEEEEEECK!

I LOVE YOU, DOCTOR GAETA. "Frankly, I don't want him anywhere near me." HEE.

CLARK'S SMILE = MY HEEEEEEEARRRRRRT.

I started laughing so hard in this scene. SW was hilarious. I loved Davis shooting Ollie that, "Do you MIND? I'm on the PHONE! God! How are you so RUDE?" look when Ollie screamed at Chloe.

Also, when Ollie was all condescending telling him Chloe was on her way, and Davis said, "Oooh, I hope so! I really do! Because if she's not, the only way I can control myself is if I kill one of you!" And then started taking those exaggerated deep breaths?

HILARIOUS.

HOT.

Whenever there's a gratuitous ass shot, I'll be there to cap it.

I think the job is legit since it has an office, but I did get the vibe of this leading up to Jimmy possibly becoming Watchtower next year. It would certainly explain why the writers found the question about an Ollie/Watchtower hookup to be fucking hilarious.

Either way, I think Jimmy's headed towards being a secret-keeper, which will put us in S9 at everyone knowing the secret. I think that could be pretty fun for a change, to have everyone united under one front in the main cast (save Tess, who is just fucking crazy...in an awesome way!).

WARNING: THIS IS WHERE THE PICSPAM GETS GRATUITOUS

YES, ALL OF THESE WERE NECESSARY

EVERY JAW-CLENCH AND FOREHEAD-CREASE AND OMG CLARK IS HAVING FEEEEEEEEEEEEEELIIIIIIINGS!

FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!!!!!!!

If you don't ship it now, I don't know what to do with you. ARE YOU DEAD INSIDE?

I cannot stop flailing. When he said, "Chloe, you're wrong...!" and then you could tell the feelings were all THERE. He was having the FEELINGS.

But he's confused and doesn't know how to put them into words, so he just sort of desperately repeated, "You're wrong!" for want of not knowing what to say. Because he doesn't know how to EXPRESS HIMSELF. BECAUSE IT'S CHLOE.

I've been waiting for this for years.

It didn't disappoint.

IS IT NEXT WEEK YET?!!

AND FOR FUNSIES:

(OMG THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE YELLOW WARDROBE LATELY???!!!!!! DUH.)

Behind Chloe on the stairs: "Lobo's Road Trip: It's All Downhill From Here!"

Then behind them, also from Eternal: "Casa Bronte: A Love Story." Except Davis is the crazy wife in the attic and Chloe is Mr. Rochester...and Clark is Jane!

And underneath: "Zytron: The Clock Is Ticking. The Last Day Is Today." Or, DOOMSDAY IS COMING.

Yeah, they both reacted the same way this episode: NO CHLOE, NO FUCKING WAY.

I wonder if Jimmy will get the evidence photographically and come back to the DP and they take the sucker down.
Would also be good! Either way I think he's poised to find out the secret now, though.

I do think it would be a very Ollie move to give Chloe's job to her ex, though. "SORRY CHLOE, YOU'RE FIRED, AGAIN. GIVING THE JOB TO YOUR EX JUST TO RUB SALT IN THE WOUND!"

Chloe left and shit just got real for poor Clark Kent.
TRUE FACTS.

Oddly kinda fits, even though I tend to always see Jane Eyre as a Cinderella story. But if Clark is Jane, who is his St. John Rivers?
Kara was supposed to come back and presumably involve Kandor. Cousins, plus going to Kandor = missionary trip, staying with your own kind of people/family? Not romantic, but nobody else fits the bill in Clark's case. ;P

Though I'm not going too far deep into this one past the crazy in the attic/basement comparisons, since I'd prefer it if Chloe didn't end this season maimed for her sins, kthx.

Either way I think he's poised to find out the secret now, though.

For sure. At the time of the Superman's Girlfriend run, they had Jimmy Olsen, Superman's Pal. Now back in the 90's when Lois found out, she kind of became his primary talk-to person (I mean yeah he still has his BFF Bruce, and yeah he has the Kents, but Lois took a primary role then). The thing is, over time it un-evened the whole DP equation. In the comics it's pretty much canon that Perry knows but he doesn't want it known that he knows and as long as he doesn't have facts that he knows, then offically he doesn't know.

For Jimmy literally to become Superman's Pal again, for him to be a talking point in the relationships and another person to help shoulder the pain (like they had brought in Lana in the comics, at times Pete to do in the past) I think would not only be new, but really useful in SV verse where they outline Pete and Lana as while good friends, people whom he outgrew.

There have been several times where Lex knows and basically sits on it because knowledge is power, and I am hoping we find out Lex is Not Dead soon because that puts all that pressure just waiting over their heads.

So this is my long about way of saying, I think you're right and I think they have narrative reasons for going there, including the story being more inclusive and more pressurized in the whole us vs. world battle going on.

I do think it would be a very Ollie move to give Chloe's job to her ex, though. "SORRY CHLOE, YOU'RE FIRED, AGAIN. GIVING THE JOB TO YOUR EX JUST TO RUB SALT IN THE WOUND!"

That is total truth. On the same hand though, I think on some level we should be seeing Ollie and Clark battle for the JLA (or maybe Ollie's running the JSA and Clark goes off and starts the JLA to spite him). That should be a big point coming up, and I kinda wonder whom all will be dragged into their ideological war. (I also wonder if it's to set up Clark's eventual step up to Bruce as BFF; Chloe's obviously the friend he'll never loose but he and Lex fell apart, and he and Ollie are falling apart - Clark as a billionaire bff opening in the making).

Not romantic, but nobody else fits the bill in Clark's case.

Yeah but it works (except Kara doesn't have any ONE TRUE LOVE FOREVER whom just can't handle being a ~missionary~ zomg) so I'll buy it for a dollar.

since I'd prefer it if Chloe didn't end this season maimed for her sins, kthx.

Hee. Well I suspect it's a metaphorical maiming. She's lost her "husband", she'll probably loose her cousin, she'll fail the guy she tried to help (Davis), and she'll feel like she failed her Clark.

I mentioned to someone else, but I am wondering if Clark comes back from the dead still willing to live his life on some level, or introspective about what he wants (learning how to balance Clark with Superhero), and yet have Chloe move back to the place where she's just Done With Romance (so Clark has to woooo her.)

I don't expect us to find out Lex isn't dead until they get MR signed. So like...the middle of next year at earliest. I just find it too problematic story-wise for Lex to exist only in Offscreensville or Shot From The Back In Shadow-land, not to mention embarrassing to watch. They didn't really do much with the whole idea in the first half of the season in a satisfying way, whereas since Lex died, Tess has stepped up and there have been more Clex references. I want payoff eventually, but I'm in no rush.

Ollie = SV Batman, I'm not really holding my breath for anything regarding Bruce ever. I think Ollie's arc hinges a lot on the finale and how events affect him, so I think it's possible for him to turn around still. The way he's pushing Clark so hard to fight Dooms now is going to be giving him major guilt trip when Clark dies (again, a la Odyssey).

It all has to come from Clark's end at this point, so I think that's about right. If the JLA is at the center next year, I think Clark needs to be gung-ho about it. Ollie might step down his involvement after Clark's death and have a crisis over his leadership skills, while Clark will step up more.

It's hard to get a read on Chloe's arc since we know so little. But whether it's Watchtower, solving Nois' murder, or going back to the DP (or a mix of all three at once) her MO is generally to throw herself into work when she's unraveling. I could see them working up a parallel for her next year compared with Clark's tendency towards obsession, and this time he'll be the one working to balance her out.

idk about Clark, though, because they said he'd be in a dark place. I was really hoping we'd be finding some joy again next year. I'm hoping they don't mean all of next season and are talking about just the first few episodes. Since initially we'll be dealing with so much death fallout I guess that makes sense.

Oh, it's completely embarassing to watch. Still, I like the idea that Lex is out there. *hums the X-Files theme*

he way he's pushing Clark so hard to fight Dooms now is going to be giving him major guilt trip when Clark dies (again, a la Odyssey).

This is true. Honestly I kinda know we'll never have Bruce/Batman because the WB film division will never allow it, but I do know it's the writer's pipe dream so I can't help but go "hmm."

idk about Clark, though, because they said he'd be in a dark place. I was really hoping we'd be finding some joy again next year. I'm hoping they don't mean all of next season and are talking about just the first few episodes.

Yes, the next season needs to be happier, I think. And I'm guessing he's going to have guilt for letting Nois die, and guilt for dying, and such. But I definitely have to wonder if by Doomsday we have almost a case of right timing thwarted by Doomsday. And yeah, we've got two kind of obsessive-when-hurt people, so I don't know how they aren't going to come back all gangbusters.

Granted if they kind of unite as partners over Nois' grave, maybe the only issue will be the ~romance~ that's slow to come back, and we get them being truly bff again. Which in the short term, could work for me.
