I always loved how supermanhomepage described this scene in their "Vessel" review: "this is the first time since the show first aired that I saw Clark Kent in a true blue, honest to goodness, sweet as apple pie, romantic moment. I smiled and that is saying a lot considering I had a wisdom tooth pulled the day before watching the episode. It just felt good to see. No angst or tension. Sure there were some nice moments with Lana early in the season but this just had more of that feel good feeling. Nothing complicated. Just a hero going off to do the hero thing and a girl who loves him kissing him goodbye before he goes."

Absolutely no one can deny the EPICNESS of this scene.

I really love Beast as an episode, but Descent is the last real episode of SV as it should be. SV without Lex isn't SV (and the post-Descent eps of S7 were such a massive letdown in comparison they're easily ignored except for the end scene).

The show used to be soo pretty! Look at all those colors!

I remember the day this aired and having loosely followed the spoilers having no clue they were going to kiss. I had on the tv in the kitchen while I was cooking. I glanced up just as she was standing there and I thought to myself, "Oh shit, is she going to do what I.." and before I could finish that thought she runs and plants one on him. Needless to say, I started screaming like a moron and ended up burning my hand in the process. LOL As far as I'm concerned the show ended that day

Haha, the colors are pretty much thanks to iTunes cap quality. The save was always pretty but until now it's always been so hard to bring out the pretty in other caps. ;w;

Saaaaame! The kiss was totally unspoiled except for it being in the Canadian promo, but I think I was busy with exams that week and wasn't keeping up, so I had no clue it was coming. The internet exploding that whole summer was such a blast.

I had all but given up on the show by this point thinking Chlark would never happen! It was the kiss that brought me back!! THIS EPIC KISS BROUGHT ME BACK TO THIS SUCK OF A SHOW!!!!! THEY OWE ME!!!!!!

They actually weren't my main ship at all until this episode aired - I was a Chloiser almost right away, so I always thought they were endgame and wanted them to be. But Clex and Chlex were my main ships until the end of S5, so Chlark was on my backburner as a kind of "I want it to happen someday but I WANT CHLOE AND LEX MAKING OUT NOW." thing, lol. Then this episode happened and it was like OMG OTP4LIFE.

...in retrospect I've had really bad luck with my SV ships. I think I used up all my shipper luck on Chlionel, which if you think about it is really disturbing that it's the SV ship that probably gave me the most fanservicey payoff with the least amount of disappointment, lmao.

Back in S5, I actually wondered on Chiri's LJ (I think) that there'd be a Chlark kiss in the finale, but of course there's no way I could ever have known how epic it would look. In one unforgettable scene, it showed everyone what Chlark was all about.
