(What I like even more is that "Abyss" is nine episodes in, while this is eight from the end... Keeps with the mirror imagery for the year, and how the finale will almost certainly finish off with Clark dying again in Chloe's arms, just like in the premiere. I am liking this episode more and more. All of the mirrors and the SWF'ing feel like they're flipping back around and we're going back to where we should be.)

This picspam is lovely. God, Chlark have this intensity and chemistry that can not be beat. I love the comparisons for both episodes. Watching "Infamous" the other day, I immediately thought of "Abyss".

Do you really think her power will come back, though? (DO NOT WANT.) I've been thinking that she'll somehow haul him to the Fortress and have the macguffin crystal du jour heal him or whatever (and the Fortress along with him), since that would bring it all the way back to Artic: Chloe/Lex parallels like whoa, especially if she's got a crystal to save him, and then she'd restore the Fortress instead of destroying it.

I think that both of them are going to have enough emo with all the death going around without adding Chloe to the mix. She's died enough times already; she needs to get back into the business of living.

Well I could see them being like talking to Jor-El and have him bring her back all "Her power shall never work again. Also did you know she has an unnaturally long life span?"

Something in that vein.

Me, I'm just jumping right to, "I can't wait for this show to start putting out."

Honestly if there was no writers strike, I think s7 would have been the end (almiles wanted it to be) and I think early s7 shows the kind of clear divide of Clark having the harsh wake up call, and it would have ended very s5y.

Then s8 reset and is recycling. (I still think they think they'll have KK return for the final "NO, Lana, DO NOT WANT YOU ANYMORE." Which... maybe they will, but I don't know.)

I can sorta see the divide, but they've been following the same stalling pattern since S6 every year. I really didn't get the impression from S7 that they were truly gearing up for the end. The first half was mostly dark!Lana, the second half was Lex finally becoming a badass, and overall Kara took up way too much screentime (I loved her, but in retrospect it seems a waste). Clark and Chloe had too little to do last year for it to feel like the end.

I know Clark has gotten a lot of crap this year (and he deserves it all) but this is the first time since S5 I've actually felt like Clark wasn't a side character. Yes, it's turned into week after week of "let's tune in to see what dumbshit choice Clark makes this week!" but I find it a step up from Ollie making his decisions for him in S6. When they made JH a regular I thought he'd go right back to stealing all the screentime again this year.

KK said she wouldn't mind coming back for the finale; I don't really see any need to see her before then. It wouldn't even take a whole episode for Clark to demonstrate that he's just not that into her anymore.

They have had the same divide, but given that they'd only written about 1-9 pre strike, and then wrote 10-16 all in like 2-3 days thinking "Okay must end season, and btw everyone is leaving."

I liked Kara in s7 and I think over time the mentor role (plus Kara being gone much more than 2-3 episodes) would be good for Clark; I thought he was on the wake up path about Lana (and Lexana seemed inevitable) and headed toward's Clark big wake up.

But of course, we had a strike and then resign disaster instead.

But I do like how Clark seems more in focus (especially since about Prey-onwards).

I hope KK comes back for a few eps. One to be dumped, and one or two to algin with Lex again (yes, I am in the firm Chlark(Chlois) vs. Lexana camp. I think I always will be.)

Oh I'm willing to wait. Most of me hasn't minded waiting through the Jimmy and Lana stalls since Vessel anyway, but still if they were smart they'd just get right to it.

Instead they are going to be them and I'm going to have to adore their tiny awkward no-one-else-gets-it wooing that they've been doing off and on since Arrival.

I think Lexana will always be the endgame for me, they're so going to have angry sex, but I'm not married to seeing that play out onscreen. Mostly because I don't trust the show to be able to pull off anything related to Lana in a satisfying manner after "Requiem." We're at the point where everyone can fanwank Lana's characterization into whatever they want it to be, so they might as well just keep leaving it all as ambiguous as possible because nothing they do is ever going to reconcile with what came before.

And what with all the stalling, I still don't understand the point of having Lana back this year. They now seem to want to pretend it all never happened, anyway. She took back what progress Clark had made, and for nothing.

This season's structure makes a lot of sense to me now that we're past the halfway mark, but "Power" and "Requiem" are like these big gaping pointless detours in the middle. And I really liked Lana a lot in S7, I had a genuine desire for her storyline to get wrapped up, and if it had made more sense for her characterization I wouldn't have minded if it hadn't served her overarching narrative purpose. It...pretty much did neither.

I don't get Lana's arc - other than they wanted MR to return for it, a bit, and then he wouldn't come back so they re-wrote it. (Which, curses!)

Lexana are one of the shows OTP; the Pilot confirms it. :)

I too, wanted Lana wrapped. I liked Dark Lana and really Lana post-s3/s2 I have enjoyed (I liked s1 Lana too but for different reasons).

I can get Lana being power hungry, a lot, and I can get Lex getting a krypto suit, and I can even get meteor freaking Lana at the end (though it would have been smarter to say she's got man magnetism and better on Clark too) - what I don't get is how this Lana would get played into putting on a greenK absorbing suit. Or the big disconnect that she was working with Lex in Bride and then apparently, not later.

I think at some point they merely re-wrote with another Clana is forever over ender and an opener to wrap her when Lex is around as they wanted. But still it's like. *flail* Unfair.

Except they didn't play it like she was power hungry; that would have made sense. Right from the beginning with Ollie, she was saying they needed to be more like Clark. Her whole independent mission to be a hero made absolutely zero sense to me. I totally understand why she'd want the suit (and if she was intended to be working with Lex initially, I think probably she was planning to double-cross Lex and steal the suit, and he intended for her to get it all along, thus the krypto-suit...some part of me just can't believe Lex would make it for himself and block himself off from Clex cuddling for eternity). This is really awesome! I loved the Clark scene in Infamous. The chemistry is just electric. And I agree with you: watching this show is like being in an unhealthy relationship. As soon as you think you are strong enough to get out, then something good happens and you're like: "well maybe IT WIll get better..." that is until you get punched in the face again :/
