I think part of it is how her wardrobe doesn't really pop this year anymore. She was wearing dull earth-tones almost all the time during the first half of the season while she was possessed, and since then she's worn almost 100% purple. Her red and green tops were always the best in earlier seasons!

What kills me is just how utterly ridiculous they look playing tug-of-war with her messenger bag strap, when Clark is twice her size and could obviously just grab the bag if he wanted.
