Level 3 and 33.1 callbacks! Also my OTP are acting like last season never happened which is more than fine with me.

It's like how in the premiere of Alias S4, Dixon was like, "LET'S TALK ABOUT LAST YEAR," and Vaughn was like, "LET'S NOT EVER TALK ABOUT LAST YEAR EVER BECAUSE LAST YEAR SUCKED." LAST YEAR SUCKED, NEVER HAPPENED, MOVE ON TO THE GOOD OTP STUFF YAY.

Interesting that it was mentioned the "flashforward" was supposed to be in the this episode originally. Since it's yet to be explained or mentioned by Clark at all, I'm thinking the flashforward was intended to be seen by Chloe first here as originally planned.

CHLOE YOU AND YOUR CIRCULAR LOGIC ARE KILLING ME. "I WASN'T IN THE FUTURE SO NOW I'M GONNA LEAVE FOREVAR AND ALSO DELETE MY ENTIRE DIGITAL EXISTENCE." But I've been waiting for her to erase herself forever so w/e I AM HAPPY EVEN AS SHE IS BREAKING MY HEART.

GUESS WHO'S IN TROUBLE WITH DADDY AND GROUNDED?

I could rewatch Clark getting verbally bitchslapped all day long on loop. THANK GOD. It all hit home, too, until Boseid gave him an unnecessary ego boost (YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD, CLARK).

I'm honestly not sure if there's not something still weird with Fortress Sue (calling back to "rule them with strength" is some weird shit) but everything it said to Clark was true. And THANK GOD because I can finally watch this show again without hating Clark for his inexcusable behavior last year now that Clark is finally admitting, "Maybe setting buildings on fire when I'm in a crappy mood is kind of a dick move."

I'm kind of bemused at people thinking the song reuse was a budget move, given the countless other callbacks in the episode. They've been unbelievably deliberate in how they've cut the promos this year to foreshadow returns or emphasize their callback choices, and they obviously went digging to go find the shot of Chloe from the other scene to put it in the Nature Boy promo.






Between following this scene with Darkseid and the fact that SV lives to rip off Joss Whedon, the inevitable Boseid *~twist~* seems a no-brainer, but this scene still made me cry something fierce. What a great scene. Definitely the most quality thing on Smallville in years.

Still. NO DON'T LISTEN TO FORTRESS SUE SON. YOU ARE BETTER THAN THE SON I RAISED. I WAS A BIG FAN OF YOU SETTING THOSE BUILDINGS ON FIRE WHEN I WAS WATCHING UP IN HEAVEN! I MEAN HEY WE ALL GET ANGRY SOMETIMES AND LOSE OUR TEMPERS. IT'S COOL.

Riiiiiiight. Bo was always so cool with the idea of Clark losing his temper and going psycho on the populace. He wasn't even allowed to play football ffs.

Okay, and I was crying at the beginning. When Clark went, "I feel like every time I do something right, I do something wrong!" I just cracked up because THAT IS TEN FUCKING YEARS OF THIS TRAINWRECK IN A NUTSHELL.

And then the best piece of dialogue evah: "We all make sacrifices, son, and every time we do, we lose a little something in the process."

IN CONCLUSION: LOL GROUNDED UNTIL YOU STOP BEING A DICK, CLARK. (Have fun waiting on that one, Fortress Sue.)

I can't wait until Kara shows up to be super awesome and continue the verbal bitchslapping parade. PLZ GET HERE SOONER, NEXT WEEK, I LOVE KARA SO MUCH.
