I keep meaning to do the drabble challenges more often, but it never seems to happen. Luckily, this week I had something already on hand that matched the theme. Hurrah for not-really-productivity!

Despite his video game expertise, combined with the practical experience of driving ninety miles an hour through war zones and the wrong side of the freeway, Marco fails his first driving exam. Miserably.

("Don't they usually at least let you out of the parking lot before flunking you?" Rachel asks gleefully afterwards.

He doesn't break stride. "Oh, go to hell, Xena.")

But in the end, Rachel is the one who ends up helping him train for the retest. This is because if someone can be counted on to be overly critical of his every move, it would be Rachel. Though she claims that mocking him is just an added bonus to the real reason: "Nobody is crazy enough to take their life in their hands by getting in a car with you."

"Nobody except you," he says, and she throws back her head and laughs; the wind through the passenger side window blowing back her hair, exposing the perfect line of her neck to the sun.
