I got my book halfway done tonight, before running back home to see Smallville. My week is definitely looking up! I would even venture to say that it looks pretty cool thus far.
Wow, I feel like I haven't done this in ages. But since my book is on the move and I have more than a few minutes to breathe...
All this episode needed was for Lionel to have a scene with Chloe, and my life would have been complete. It was ship heaven. Since "Promise," I've just been bitter: "Fuck off, Clark, you don't deserve Chloe anymore, even if she'd have you!" but then this episode came along to change my mind back.
I've also gotta say: everybody rocked this episode. Everybody. I wanted to say someone in particular owned it, but everyone was amazing. I loved MR's brilliant turn tonight. AM was as great as she always is, and the material tonight for Chloe was great. TW rocked Clark's feelings for Chloe and Lana completely; there were layers. TW has been consistently awesome in every single episode this season, but somehow it still manages to surprise me a little. And I think KK has really stepped up her game lately, which shocks me because this storyline is so lame it hurts, and yet I think KK has turned in her best performances ever this year. Oh, and AOT was great in all thirty seconds she was onscreen too. So snaps for her. And of course, Lynda Carter was insanely good as Wondermommy. Insanely good. The scenes with her and Chloe were heartbreaking, but I thought her scenes with Lex were just so layered and tense!!
PRETTY.

KICKASS.

Chloe has a new bedspread. Or it's Lois', I don't pay attention to her comforter continuity. Where is Lois sleeping if Chloe has the bed now? Oh right: I don't care.

He just let himself in, hee. I mean, not earth-shaking, but I thought it was cute that he just barged in like that. Like he always used to just walk in to Lex's place, back when they were friends and it wasn't rude.

AHHHHHHH

AND MORE AHHHHHHH

Oh, well-done, TW.

Elsewhere, in the story thread I don't really care about...

My, that four-wheel drive on that slick-looking truck is quite impressive! Look at how it just plows through that field of mud! I wonder what kind of truck it is? But they would never tell us, right?

Ah. Okay, then.

PRETTY

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!! PRE-CONTUNITY! Okay, so...foreshadowing, but...you know, I like to give the continuity fairy her props.

LIGHTIIIING

MR was unbelievable this episode.

There are not words to express my amusement at how he brought her a FRUIT PLATE. A FRUIT PLATE.

PRETTYYYYYYYYYYYYY

OMFG SCARY MUCH?!!!!!!!

Really. If I weren't already gonna marry this episode as a whole, I'd want to marry the DP on the grounds of this shot alone.

I never get tired of seeing her nameplate on that Planet desk.

BEST LEX MOMENT IN AGES.

AND I LOVE HOW THEY BOTH LOOK DOWN AT THE SAME SECOND.

Eeeeee.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

This was just well-played.

I mean, OW. TW brought it, and it's really hard to make me care about these two right now (have I ever cared? once). This, and their scene in...uh, did she find out she was pregnant in "Rage"? I like it when Clark and Lana are really operating on different wavelengths. Not the seekrits and lieths, but something different that just sets them on different levels. It adds a complexity to their scenes that has been sorely lacking...in every other scene they've had in the history of the series ever.

CHLOE LETS HERSELF IN TOO NOW

I am so relieved that Moira made her do this one, I would never have forgiven it otherwise.

Love the walls!

Hi, Annette O'Toole! Bye, Annette O'Toole!

YAY FOR ACTION FIGURE CHLOE!

I was bummed about them cutting this one down, even if it was only two lines. Still! When was their last scene? "Fade"? Has it been a year? And all he did then was go, AND YOUR SHOES DON'T MATCH WITH YOUR BAG AND YOU HAVE STUPID HAIR AND NOBODY WILL EVER DATE YOU. And I laughed really hard because Chloe said that when she walked in on Lex and Lana there was "enough electricity in that room" to light a major metropolitan area, because Chloe and Lex's chemistry in that scene of them TALKING was like a 9, while Lexana's was like a....1.5.

Man, I can't wait for next week. Maybe after that I won't get so excited about them being in the same shot as I do now.

I know they're really getting their money's worth out of that set, but. I STILL REALLY WANT THAT BOOKCASE FOR MYSELF.

Oh right.

Sad stuff is happening.

But first...

CHLOE + THE RED TREE = OTP

I loved that she was going to make a deal with Lex. I loved that so much.

And Clark's look. Oh.

Allison Mack cries...

...I cry.

It is that simple.

WAHHHH.

Still not tired of the nameplate, nope.

SERIOUSLY, I ALMOST SCREAMED.

There's this sarcastic, over-the-top quality MR seems to enjoy bringing to Lex as a supervillain. Onyx!Lex was so over the top, but I really enjoy seeing it in brief bursts like this. His mocking, "What? You don't remember?" to Chloe here was in that tone, and I loved it. Everything here, I loved it.

And Chloe's like, I've played this game before.

ILOVETHEFACEHEMAKESHERE

Oh, man. MR gives good supervillain.

A scene as creepy as that almost made me believe that Lex is smart enough to be a threat to Chloe! But...c'mon. She's played this game before against Lionel and she won. Lex is going to have to work hard to really blip on her radar, because...come on. Lionel > Lex.

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. (I couldn't believe the doctor accused her of faking it herself for Lex's money! THESE DOCTORS SUCK.)

Letting herself in again!

That's a face we haven't seen in a long time, I feel like. I mean, it's the patented, "I'm putting on a brave face through the pain," face, but it was kind of always used in conjunction with her feelings for Clark. Overthinking it? Probably.

"She'll never know the person I've become."

"Good thing I told her."

WAHHHHH

One of my favorite Clark moments, hands down. This season has really done a good job of making it so he doesn't take Chloe for granted all the time; the friendship is more equal than ever, and I love it.

And as far as I'm concerned...

...nobody else can...

...show such a huge range of emotions in three seconds...

...like Allison Mack can.

IT'S THE STORY OR HER.

"It's inevitable: the war's about to begin."

IN CONCLUSION: YES, YES, YES.
And OMGGGGGGGG NEXT WEEK?!!!!! I forgot to freak out about it! How rockin' was that promo? It needed some bridge amongst the flashbacks shown, but otherwise fab, no?
"Were we ever really friends?"
"I don't have anything else to compare it to: you were the only real friend I've ever had, Clark."

Date: 2007-04-20 08:55 pm (UTC)I don't think this is the first time we've seen that Smallville Medical is the worst hospital ever (in addition to being the ugliest). I mean, Lex managed to pay off everyone involved in her checkups and the sonogram and everything to fake that stupid fake baby? The crappy doctor was just the icing on the cake.
Though to be fair...it's admittedly hard to imagine someone being that stupid. LOL HI I'M SIX MONTHS PREGNANT AND GETTING LACED INTO MY CORSET-BACKED SIZE ZERO WEDDING DRESS! Only Lana, man.
