JOHN GLOVER IS HOT JOHN GLOVER IS HOT JOHN GLOVER IS HOT.

I loved the Lionel and Lex scene. How Lionel just strolled in and stole a water bottle, and Lex started talking smack, and Lionel was like, "I don't have time for this!" like...he'd just come all the way from Metropolis to steal a water bottle. GOTTA LOVE THAT SIX HOUR DRIVE!

I got a little teary at the Martha/Clark goodbye scene.

Clana barn scene: KK looked so, so beautiful. And while the scene was crappy (if the marriage is a sham, can Lana stop wearing that wedding ring?!) I really loved it when Clark hugged her. It was just a surprisingly nice moment; I always imagine those two as constantly standing ten feet away from each other longingly and idiotically, occasionally coming together for the odd awkward kiss.

I kinda liked the Lexana scene. It started out so well.

"Yeah, it must suck having to go through with a FAKE MARRIAGE."
"Not as much as it sucks being stuck with a FAKE BABY!"

I also laughed soooo hard at the Lionel scene. Lionel was just like, "Hi Martha! Just calling to say hi! And wondering when to schedule our first phone sex session! And...CALLYOUBACKLATERBYE!" Bwah!

I love Lionel and MM. I loved Clark's, "WTF THIS MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE!!!" look. Priceless! And the whole breezy explanation of, "So clearly I had to threaten your life and mess with Lana's head! But it was all for your own good! And, just as a bonus...also it's really funny to laugh at you drama queenish kids and see you run around in circles! DANCE, PUPPETS, DAAAAAAAAAAAAANCE!" NEVER CHANGE, LIONEL!!!

P.S. I don't think we even need to ask if they're going to the Lana fembot place. They TOTALLY ARE. And I have no sympathy for whatever hideously offensive fembot bullshit they put KK through next year because SHE WAS HOME FREE. FREEEEEEEEE. And now I'm mad that we're getting stuck with a fricking FEMBOT, because it would just FIGURE that they would replace Lana with a robot RIGHT AT THE POINT WHEN LANA HAD ACTUALLY BECOME PREFERABLE TO AN INANIMATE OBJECT. BITE ME, SMALLVILLE.

P.P.S. I think Lionel and MM must be having the most awesome friendship the world has ever known in Offscreensville! I feel SO SORRY for MM, because he's been floating up somewhere watching the Nonstop Clana Marathon that has been Clark's life for all these years?!! I wouldn't have picked the frickin' DOCKS to help Clark out, I would have just popped down and been like, "THAT BITCH IS POISON, CLARK. TRUST ME. IT'S COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS!" yeaaaaaaars ago, just so I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WATCH IT HAPPEN ANYMORE.

P.P.P.S. I think now I'm kinda moving past the pain and moving on to the point of goggling and giggling at fandom's meltdown.

My mom and I watched the last three episodes of GG. And cried pretty much the whole last two episodes while projecting our current situations onto the characters.

Then I capped them and I bawled all over again.

I'm not sure how the rest of the season has gone (besides from the overall verdict of "sucky") but the one thing I noticed about these three episodes is how suddenly everyone was saying exactly what they felt all the time. I didn't mind it that much since it was the end, and I think that was actually one of the biggest weaknesses in ASP's writing (and particularly in DP's scripts), in how they would never let the characters say what they were feeling outright. (Nine times out of ten I think it's the best choice, but the problem is they would never let that tenth time ring true when it really needed to by the end.) But in these episodes, it almost felt like overkill how much everyone was saying they loved each other.

I really, really loved the karaoke scene, though. I cried. It was so honest. Compare it to the Fiddler on the Roof moment from S5: both scenes mean the same thing and say it in the same way, both were pitch-perfectly acted, but I enjoyed that this version of it didn't need to make a mockery of it, it just let it be the beautiful moment it was.

But I felt like a lot of other scenes were so bizarrely honest in a no-frills way with the dialogue. I was surprised at the Rory/Lane scene when Rory gushed about how Lane was like her sister, and how much her friendship meant to her (the last time I watched this show they barely seemed to connect much anymore). Still...if you're gonna be sappy, then be sappy at the end, I guess. Clearly on some level it worked for me, because I literally SOBBED through this entire thing. The only other show where I cried like my heart broke through the whole thing was the Everwood series finale (and that show WAS unabashedly sappy, BUT IN AN AWESOME WAY).

I liked the final Rory/Paris moment (I STILL SHIP THEM) but I kinda wanted MORE! But the honesty there was cute as a contrast to the Chilton graduation ("I really hated you."). I totally burst into tears when Rory said, "I'm sure we'll be friends for a long, long time," because the point I bailed out of this show was when Rory was denouncing Paris as even a friend (I haaaaaaaated Rory for that, haaaaaaaaaated) so I was really really happy that I got to hear Rory say it out loud, finally.

And now, PICSPAM.

OMG CHILTON YELLOW BACKPACK!!!!!

OMG PARIS WITH BONO!!!!!!

"I know! You bought Yale and named it Rory!"

Okay, so...on some level, I can't buy these two back together again. I'm immensely grateful for the happy ending, but in terms of the whole story, I just can't buy it entirely. They screwed these two up so much that it's too hard for me to really believe in it.
That said...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PERFECT MOMENT.

SO PARIS. I LOVED THIS, her throwing a party just so she could figure out how she could crush her med school competition!!!

"I'm pretty sure I bombed my final."
"Why do you think you bombed it?"

"'Cause I didn't turn in all of it..."

"You could never disappoint me."
"Yeah?"
"Never. Ever."
SOB.

OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

AND LULU LOOKS SO PROUD OF HIM

"I can't follow Kirk! He can REALLY SING!"

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

THE SMILING!!!!

THE LOOKING!!!

THE LOOKING DOWN!!!

THE SMILING WHILE LOOKING DOWN!!!

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Hi, Matt Czuchry! You are as attractive as ever! But I don't care about your storyline anymore, sadly. (I used to like them, too.)

"Time out! 'I Will Always Love You' is not sappy, it's classic Cyndi Lauper!"
"Whitney Houston!"
"Whatever!"

Hee. I really, really adore Kathleen Wilhoite in this role. Their chemistry is so good, you really believe they're siblings. And you can always tell how much she loves Luke, even though she's a total flake.

"Can you believe it?"
"Yeah, I can, actually. I checked out of this place the second I got into Harvard. ...I never get tired of saying that!"

I loved this!

"Do your annoyed face! ...oh, that's not cute!" Hee!!

PERFECTION.

ALSO PURE, TOTAL, COMPLETE PERFECTION.

OH KIRK.

I CRIED SO HARD HERE BECAUSE OH GOD I LOVE PARIS. HOW CAN THIS SHOW BE OVER. PARIS, YOU WERE MY FAVORITE.

PARIS, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH EVEN NOW.

I'd heard Gia was on GG now, but since I hadn't watched, I was like, HI GIA!!!!! I really really loved Krysten Ritter on VM, she's so, so cute!!

Paris' hair looks the prettiest EVER!!!

I laughed because my friends and I had this exact discussion over not getting our diplomas because of overdue library books yesterday!

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG YOU GUYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYS

IT'S THE LAST SCENE EVER FOR MY ULTIMATE FEMSLASH OTPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

"You're gonna do such great things with your life, Rory."

I CRIED SO HARD.

REALLY REALLY HARD.

I AM NOT BEING EXCESSIVE AT ALL.

THIS MADE ME HAPPIER THAN THE L/L KISS AT THE END

RORY GRADUATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. (Despite the boat-stealing and the arrest and the dropping-out along the way! SHE MADE IT!)

Oh, Rory. I think this was one of my favorite Rory moments ever: "I think I'll get my own avocado tree."

"You can do anything you want."

AND HOW TEARJEKRINGLY AWESOME WAS THIS?????

GRADUATING MAGNA CUM LUKE.

I found this overly sappy, but the last moment sold it: "Ms. Gilmore!"

"It's too soon." SOOOOOOOOOOOOOB

"You fold. I'll iron." SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB

I CRIED SO HARD YOU GUYSSSSSSSSS

OH, LUKE.

OH, TOWN.

I WAS SOBBING SO HARD AT THIS POINT BUT I JUST LOST IT HERE. OH, EVERYBODY. ZACH, AND LIZ, AND LANE...

...AND MICHEL AND KIRK AND LULU AND BRIAN...

...AND GYPSY AND MISS PATTY AND TAYLOR AND BABETTE...

...AND MORRY AND JACKSON AND SOOKIE...

...and Luke, always, always, always Luke.

"KNEEL BEFORE ME!"

It figures that the moment when money stops being the link that holds these relationships together is in the series finale, but at least that moment came. I've waited for that for years and years.

"Fine. Spandex and a tube top it is!"

YAY. (Anybody have the song that played here??)

This scene broke me.

It was the line about the Ziploc bags that just totally made me break.

"You've given me everything I need."

PERFECT END.

"I can't make up my mind!"

"Take all the time you need."

I loved Rory just taking it in at a glance and getting it.

And that was the perfect little grace note to the scene.

"I'll have to get you a 'World's Greatest Reporter' thermos to match your hat."
"Yeah, I meant to tell you, I left the hat at home"
"Whaaaat?"
"It wasn't very flattering."
"But then how will people know you're the world's greatest reporter?"
"I don't know."
"I guess they'll just have to read your articles, then."
"I guess so..."

My mom usually doesn't ever remember TV show details at all (generally they leave her mind right after watching them), so I thought she wouldn't realize the end was a callback to the pilot. And my stepdad said increduously, "That's where it ends?" and before I could open my mouth, my mom said, "Well...that's where it all began." <3

Goodbye, GG. I don't regret breaking up with you; I know it was the right choice. But I appreciate that you chose to clean up and lay off the smack in your final hours so that we could say our real goodbyes. Sniff.

AND THEN RORY AND PARIS REALIZED THEY WERE MEANT FOR EACH OTHER AND LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

(P.S. after we finished watching this, we went down to our town barbeque at the foot of the hill. There was a girl clown there who was attempting to make balloon animals, but she kept popping them over and over and over. Mom dubbed her "Kirkette.")

Show that will not be getting the teary-eyed, nostalgia-filled goodbye post this week: VM. I wish I felt like even tuning in, but sadly I just don't feel compelled to watch Veronica solve the mystery of how her sex tape got out on the internets.
