I mentioned to one of my Japanese online friends that I was catching up on American dramas from last year, and she asked what I was checking out. I tried to explain my abusive, complex relationship to SV in Japanese. It doesn't translate well.
But I think it is time for picspam of better times. Perhaps the *~best times ever~* in the show's history. This was my favorite episode ever for a long long time, though "Nemesis" dethroned it.
Smallville 3x08: Shattered. Or, "THE ONE WHERE LEX HAS A PSYCHOTIC BREAK."
Oh, psychotic breaks. I think this was the very first episode that used the term.
Nobody's mentioned the psychotic breaks in a while. Kind of makes me sad. This show has lost almost all of its catchphrases! Lana's gone, so no more "SECRETS AND LIES, SECRETS AND LIES!" The Kents are gone, so no more, "THEY'RE GOING TO LOSE THE FAAAAAAARM!" Pete is gone, so...
...nah, they get by on product placement just fine without him. Nevermind.
Lex was too sexy for catchphrases, but he's taken the sexy away too. ...no, let us not speak of it, let us reflect on more joyful times! LET THE PICSPAMMING COMMENCE

...I was just wondering, "Where did the shirt come from? Clark didn't bring one from the mansion, right?" It just sort of clicked that Clark lent him the shirt. It isn't the same one Lionel wore in "Transference," is it?? No wonder Lex looks like he's drowning in it...
(edit: HAHAHA IT TOTALLY IS! I love wardrobe on this show more with every passing episode.)

"Save the cloying maternal posturing for your own son, Mrs. Kent!"
...I've seen this episode a million times and I don't think I've ever really noticed that line. Oh, crazy!Lex. And that cap of them shoulder-to-shoulder, I love iiiit.
And I love crazy!Lex at the sweatshop. The way MR just cackles the line, "IMMIGRANT LABOOOOOOOR!" kills me. He just sounds so...pleased about it. And then tries to run that guy's hand through the sewing machine.

......yes, I picspammed Stompy the Wonder Horse. I'm a bad person, I know. Shut up.

MISS SULLIVANNNNNNN. (I still ship it!)

Clark is honestly unsettling when he's chasing down Lex.
Lex is more unsettling, admittedly. "Why not do the whole thing on Oprah?! Spill our dysfunctional guts on national TV like regular families do!" And I love how chill Lionel is under the circumstances.
I miss John Glover so much. Especially his hair. I think right here was the Lionel hair peak.

"What's the price of a Judas kiss these days?"

"I was right about you all along, Clark. You're not even human..."

"What have I become, my dearest friend? Everyone I know goes away in the end..."
