Man, not much love for "Fade" in the poll, huh? I think that episode is the prettiest of the four I put up, too. But this episode is awesome and I think it's one of everyone's favorites, so no real surprise.
Part one of what may become an ongoing picspam series entitled, "Chloe Sullivan is a reporter, you fucking hacks that call yourselves a writing staff." OR MAYBE WE CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING MORE CATCHY. Suggestions welcome!

"Do you know that there have been rumors about her flying around Suicide Slums for weeks? But I couldn't get a confirmed eyewitness... Until your mom. Now, this has front-page news written all over it! The vigilante is for real!"

And as the following is basically the reason for the picspam, it gets special treatment.
Oh, Allison Mack, I LOVE YOUR FACE.

Now this is what I need, Clark: a catchy moniker for our new crime-fighter. 'Miss Death Wish!' No, that's lame. 'Dirty Harriet!' No, that's too derivative. ...I got it! I got it, Clark! So, your mom said that she swooped down from the heavens...
So, how about the 'Angel of Vengeance'?"
"Chloe. Police report."
"Right. I'm sorry, Clark. Once I go Woodward and Bernstein, I get carried away..."

THE MOST HILARIOUS SCENE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER:

Nnnngh Luthorcorp I miss you and your icy blues.
Did anyone else notice this week that they put up one of the Luthorcorp lit-up walls in Ollie's office, but replaced the blue light with green? NOT PRETTY.

I love how this episode is supposed to take place over a period of a single night, and yet count the costume changes for everyone involved, lol. Not that I blame Chloe for changing into jeans once work was over, but she's not the only oneee!

"He's gonna be okay. We won't let anything happen to him."
This scene is so gorgeous.

"Besides, the mask doesn't look so good with glasses over it."
"Acuvue to the rescue!"
YOU KNOW I HAD TO DO IT. OH SHOW. YOU ARE SUCH A WHORE.

Clark being smart with the pizza delivery call!
And Chloe, rockin' the Chloevage.

"I hope you enjoyed your stay. Sorry it was so short."

OLD PEOPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Lionel is such a creeper. ilu, Lionel!

"What made you stop...?"
"My dad's voice."

"Do you think you could ever do what she did? Play the mild-mannered reporter by day, and a crime-fighter by night?"
"Honestly? I'm kind of hoping I can find a way to not have to hide who I really am."

This might be my favorite Clana scene in the history of the entire show.
Lana does something entirely selfless and kind, with no agenda. And it makes sense. Because she lost her parents, and she had her necklace, and she gets it completely.
So well-done.
And speaking of well-done scenes...

Best. Scene. Ever.
It just comes out of nowhere and even now I can't believe this scene exists, because it feels like it belongs on some other, more touching, better-written show.
Perfect.

Date: 2009-03-29 06:53 am (UTC)Acuvue to the rescue! I always die laughing at that line whenever I watch the episode.
It's funny, sometimes I forget how painfully I miss Lex and Lionel and then I watch an episode with them and I'm like "Wow. I miss them so hardcore." I love the new people more than most of the current cast members but I would totally trade them in for more MR/JG. Also: OLD PEOPLEEEEE!
I agree about the Clana scene. I think the only other Clana scene I enjoyed that much was the one right after she found out she was pregnant (with FAKE BABY). Clana scenes don't usually work but this one did.
OMG the last scene! So good, so sad. I want to go back to S5 again. Oh S5 ILU.

Date: 2009-03-29 06:05 pm (UTC)I really miss oldskool!Luthor antics, but I thought they were getting really boring near the end. I felt like the quality of their scenes never matched up after S3, which...is when both Lex and Lionel's characterizations basically went to hell in a handbasket? But as individual characters, yeah, I'd trade for them in a heartbeat. (TAKE JIMMY AND OLLIE IN EXCHANGE PLZ.)
I love the FAKE BABY Clana scene. Clark was so wonderful in that scene. I'm also really partial to their last scene in "Legion" just because they managed to like...actually have a new conversation for the first time in years that didn't mention secrets or lies. Man, I really wish they'd finished on Clana as friends, because all of these scenes prove how surprisingly pleasant they can be without the dramaz.

That's true. S4 was the year that Lionel had like multiple personality disorder (which he would suffer from on and off for the rest of his time on the show) and Lex would just pop up randomly to be like "Clark! Gay! Lana! Pretty! MAGIC!" and then disappear again.
Still. I'd rather have totally useless Luthors than Ollie/Lois/Jimmy. (Although sometimes I like Jimmy? Far, far away from Chloe.)
I love the FAKE BABY Clana scene.
I knoooow! It was excellent. I liked it whenever Clana got to talk about new things and maybe actually be friends for five seconds. But of course, having Lana leave on a friendship grace note is not how this show rolls....ever.

Date: 2009-03-29 03:00 pm (UTC)And this week's episode of Sville [it was an okay episode, nothing too great] made me realize how much I miss Chloe being a reporter. I mean, it was her dream! =[
I just love Allison Mack, she's gorgeous, makes the best facial expressions and it's wonderful to watch her scenes with Clark cause it's obvious she and Tom are really comfortable together. PLUS, she has the best lines ever haha.
This might be my favorite Clana scene in the history of the entire show.

It is a beautiful scene. *sigh* But you know me, I'm a sucker for all Clana scenes hehe. =P

Your picspams are THE BEST, thanks so much for sharing. OH, and your header is amazing! ♥

Date: 2009-03-29 06:30 pm (UTC)This week's episode made me reaaaally not happy. Like...I'm still upset about it. Because Chloe is a reporter and always has been, until the writers made her decide not to be for no reason. And then last week was all about her deciding not to be a reporter again, for no reason.
And that scene totally makes me tear up too.
Thank you so much for leaving such sweet comments! :)

Date: 2009-03-29 03:41 pm (UTC)I do love it, but Vengance is... like fabulous all over. And reminds people of when more of their episodes were like that.
Oh, Allison Mack, I LOVE YOUR FACE.
Hee. Alsom as gold to me as Allison's expressions are Tom's reactions - as he's subtly starting to think about the names, then shakes himself out of it, then has to remind her to go look at the police report with a "...that's so Chloe." It's really adorable, espcially for a few seconds since it seems to shake him out of his guilt complex.
Did anyone else notice this week that they put up one of the Luthorcorp lit-up walls in Ollie's office, but replaced the blue light with green? NOT PRETTY.
But only like, one panel! And it's not enough to reflect like the LuthorCorp blues did either. Why couldn't he at least have been the Teal Arrow so we could have kept some of that over powering coooold color?

Yes! Exactly. It's one of my faovites for them too.
It just comes out of nowhere and even now I can't believe this scene exists, because it feels like it belongs on some other, more touching, better-written show.
See, I can believe it at times - someone ont his show has some major parrent issues, but while it was just "Oh good move!" at the time, s8 has gotten so emotionally removed it's really shocking. The leads are allowed to feel things, or used to be anyway. :(
Also I love the parallel of Clark holding of Lana's fist to Lex doing it to Lionel. Oh hi messaging that Clana is totally psychologically damaging! :)

Date: 2009-03-29 06:39 pm (UTC)(Plus it has Clark kissing that hooker on the roof. ...or was her being a hooker just my personal fanwank? WHATEVER, IT'S HILARIOUS, HE IS SO AWKWARD.)
It's really adorable, espcially for a few seconds since it seems to shake him out of his guilt complex.
Yes! I love his little, "Gotta let her get this out of her system..." look. So cute.
Why couldn't he at least have been the Teal Arrow so we could have kept some of that over powering coooold color?
That set is so fail, but I'm thinking the cold teal wouldn't have worked since they cannibalized the apartment to make the office, and his apartment was so warm-colored. The sofa and the rug would never work if the green lights were turned up all the way. That said, the way they have it now just looks super cheap.
True, true. Chlark on their good weeks and Davis' journey are about the only things that touch me nowadays. :/

Date: 2009-03-29 07:05 pm (UTC)Nope, she was a hooker. And Clark was so dorky and cornfed. "But I don't know your name!" But once he got she was a hooker? He was like... NOOOO. Total ego build up and blow. LOL. I love Fade.
Yes! I love his little, "Gotta let her get this out of her system..." look. So cute.
It's so adorable. I love them both so much, cause it's so a Torch throw back there. Like, you know Chloe did that stuff in the Torch a TON; and so it was almost like a moment of normalcy for Clark, and just. Man.

Yeah, I don't know why it NEEDS a rug. But I'm betting/hoping they will either cold it up - I wouldn't mind them shadowing/brooding it up Batman style, but the need to give it more than just "...oh look, Ollie moved his crap in Lionel's office!"
True, true. Chlark on their good weeks and Davis' journey are about the only things that touch me nowadays. :/
I'm hoping when ED's character dies as it will oddly have the largest possible ripple,i it will help make people y'know, emotionally CONNECT again. Cause yeah, Chlarkoom is the only part with real emotion right now, and that's just :(.

Date: 2009-03-29 07:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, I don't know why it NEEDS a rug.
Because the floor also looks really cheapo? Not that the rug helps matters any, admittedly. Maybe the merger isn't long for this world, thus the lack of effort in the set? If they aren't using it into next year, I can see why they wouldn't go all out.
Yeah, despite the fact everyone keeps going on over how disconnected she is, and how true it is... Her death could really be the insta-fix for many of the characters' issues, if they really let it ripple and sell it hard.

Date: 2009-03-29 08:44 pm (UTC)I love that he's so lame though! Like, Jimmy is just Lame. Just... not that he doesn't have his moments too, but on the whole - he's just lame-o. But Clark's lameness is at such a level that it's almost endearing. If that makes sense.
Maybe the merger isn't long for this world, thus the lack of effort in the set?
Now that makes sense. Maybe it's transitional too, as they are going to make a Queen Industries office (that y'know, they should have maybe made in s6 rather than his apartment) and so it's in a transitional phaze.
Still I think Tess need to take over Lionel's old office. It would say a lot about her rising tot he badassness level. She got to start out behind Lex's desk in the premiere after taking out Regan (kinda), and to know about Clark and move on up to LuthorCorp proper would make sense.

I was going over this yesterday with a bunch of people, but if one figures that they let her figure out about Clark and let them say okay, she knows and that's the end of the affair; if they let her and Ollie talk about how this year was them grandly f-ing up because they didn't want to get sucked into their own Lollie go-round again, if Tess sees that with Lollie, then bam. In two scenes one can really set up (on top of the missed phone call set up, and the Chloe set up from Hex where she's not going to try to undermine Nois):
- Clark feels bad for letting someone who had faith in him down
- Chloe feels bad because... she's Chloe.
- Tess has a motive whether she's the shooter or not.
- Jimmy should feel kinda bad because it sound like in Stiletto he tells her to take a hike (thus maybe like in Descent he coulda helped)
- Ollie feels horrrible because hey, he did care about her, and wow we have a death that really maybe was in his power to save and ZOMG HE HAS A MISSION AGAIN and can stop just being Ollie Queen, Asshole.
And then you also get the karma of her dying right when everything finally aligns for her. *nod*

Date: 2009-03-29 06:07 pm (UTC)And the mugging scene will never fail to make me laugh. It's just, the way Clark pops out from the alley, all, "Hah! I'm gonna getcha!" It's too funny. And I always imagined Clark pulling down on Chloe's cap in their previous mugging skits, because she looked so cute in that cap.

Date: 2009-03-29 06:45 pm (UTC)What kills me is just how utterly ridiculous they look playing tug-of-war with her messenger bag strap, when Clark is twice her size and could obviously just grab the bag if he wanted.
