BECAUSE I DO NOT LIKE BEING DEBBIE DOWNER ABOUT THIS SHOW (and the show seems to be giving me no reason to be optimistic): PICSPAM OF HAPPIER TIMES.

S1 and S2 in HD aren't great quality compared to the more recent seasons where they actually shot for HD. With the more recent episodes you can see everyone's pores, the early years not so much. Buuuut since my DVDs have capping issues they are much better than my old capped files. I got mega excited capping Tempest, because you could see all the hairpins in Chloe's hair, which I had never noticed before on the DVD. ...I GET EXCITED OVER WEIRD THINGS OKAY

I really am excited for S5 to come out on iTunes though, since that was shot for HD. THAT WILL BE SO SEXY.

But in the meantime, KICKING IT OLDSKOOL.










The worse the show gets in real time, the more I enjoy these two pre-S3. THEY WEREN'T SO BAD BACK IN THE DAY. IN S1 THEY WERE ACTUALLY LIKABLE.

(The thing that really surprised me when I was capping old episodes? How much everyone smiled back then! Everyone!)

However, gotta love how Lana is talking to the grief counselor and talking the whole episode about needing to *~COPE~* with the Random Death Of Smallville High Student #304730. I am sure Lana manages to make every single random Smallville High death all about her and her abandonment issues.

Then Clark takes his shot with, "Well, he's dead, SO LET'S HOOK UP IN THE NAME OF LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST!"

lol these two are so lame.

idgaf, I honestly enjoyed this relationship for most of the show.

Lana pulled some unforgivable shit, true, but I always liked how despite the soapy quality of SV,
these two didn't hate on each other and were able to talk openly about the love triangle like grownups.

And the family tree scene in Rosetta always makes me cry. Bite me.





I love how Clark snarls through his teeth, "IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT."

And Martha mouthing, "Let him gooooo!" SO CUTE.

My favorite part of this scene is you can tell Lex is struggling not to crack up.

I also like Clark getting kicked out of the cave, and making those,
"BUT LEX YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MY SUGAR DADDY HOW IS THIS HAPPENING," eyes.







…tbh I do not really think AM is very good at fellating lollipops and find this scene kind of secondhand embarrassment-ish...

I started watching from late S2 on, and I hated them so much in S3 I never could appreciate them until very recently. I never shipped them but going back to S1 and S2, they were real friends who talked about their lives in between the dramaaaa. After S3, they never had real conversations and it was all secreths and lieths.

Yeah, I didn't mind them in S5 or S7. I preferred them together than the alternative, because whenever they were apart neither of them would shut up about it. I did ship Lex and Lana, but S6 was so schizophrenic that I liked the buildup more than what happened on the show.

I'm on a Mac, so I play the episodes in Quicktime with the window size set to fit-the-screen, and use a program called Capture Me to cap. :)

I think the biggest problem with Clana in real time was how the hamster wheel just kept going no matter what. Now that they are FINALLY finished I can look back on them semi-fondly.

I think with Clana I just never felt any heat between them. They could be really sweet when they were at their best, but Clex/Chlark/Lexana/Chlex all had a spark that Clana lacked. Though MR has mad chemistry with inanimate objects so with him in the mix it's not surprising.
