Yeah, but it was so underwritten. I liked them as fandom saw them too, but if they'd at least tried to dig into what happened there, I think I could have bought it. They just sort of glossed over their whole relationship and how it changed, I thought, and then to bring her back for just three minutes was a waste. :(
The Master ends up coming across as more sad and completely screwed up than some evil diabolical mastermind, so part of me always ends up thinking that he needs Ten to help him resolve his ~issues~ and the drums more than anything. He comes across as so sick and unbalanced that the tension is lost for me in all of his cracky schemes, so yeah I basically just end up watching it for his relationship with the Doctor *g*
Yeah, same. I would like him more if his cracky schemes didn't get the epic finale treatment. His relationship with the Doctor is epic, but the plot tension always falls on its face. If they let him weave in and out of regular series episodes, where my expectations for plot are lower, and then just brought the fun Ten/Master relationship stuff, I'd prefer it. But too late now to complain about it.
