+ As I said my last entry: WHEN THE WORLD ENDS ALL THAT WILL BE LEFT ARE THE COCKROACHES AND SOURYUU ASUKA LANGELY.

OH WAIT THAT ALREADY HAPPENED AND IF THE COCKROACHES HAD THEIR OWN A.T. FIELDS I THINK SHE OUTLASTED THEM TOO.

MINDRAPE? LIVED THROUGH IT. THE MASS PRODUCTION SERIES? KICKED THEIR ASSES. GETTING EATEN ALIVE? DIDN'T LAST. THE WORLD TURNING TO SOUP? SHE RECONGEALED. WORLD REBOOTING? STILL ALIVE AND KICKING.

IN CONCLUSION, THIS WILL BE THE MOST AMAZING THING TO EVER HAPPEN EVER.

I. Just. SOURYUU ASUKA LANGELY, YOU GUYS.

Misato is my favorite character but I kind of feel like Souryuu has the potential to win out in the final movie by the end, just on the grounds of how she JUST WON'T STAY DOWN EVEN IF YOU EAT HER OR TURN THE WORLD TO SOUP.


+ I love how I was already going, "lol Eva is like BSG but better and not in space! We've got your meaningless religious symbolism, your pilot UST, and THERE ARE MANY COPIES!"

And then the rebootverse got its ALL OF THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND ALL OF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN on.

Now I really want to make an Eva vid to the Bear McCreary version of All Along the Watchtower.


+ Weird shit is afoot with the Adam and Lilith stuff. Lilith's mask is different, and Lilith's old mask is on the moon chilling with Kaworu, possibly in his Eva? (I guess something like that sort of makes sense since he was unable to pilot the normal ones before...) Four Adams at Second Impact. Oldskool!verse Rei, Kaworu, Souryuu, Shinji?

Except this seems like it could get super confusing, since Kaworu seems to have all his old memories, who knows what's up with Rei, the red eyes with Shinji has me thinking he has his old memories buried subconsciously (because he called Shikinami by name without meaning to), except then why are Shikinami and Souryuu totally separate people?

But something like that HAS to be going on because Mari is obviously the Souryuu equivalent of Kaworu, built out of her DNA.


+ On that note, PARALLELS ARE AWESOME:





+ Touji with his sister, and Touji holding Hikari to shield her from the blast = probably two of the most ridiculously joyous Eva moments ever?


+ I didn't realize until I saw the deleted scenes storyboards that Kaji's watermelon patch was inside the Geofront, and it got TRASHED in the fight! When Shinji falls down, you can see the charred remains of the melon patch! THIS IS SO SAD. Despite my suspicion we're getting happy endings, I still don't think Kaji's gonna make it this time because he asked Shinji to protect Misato since he knew he couldn't. (So, I think Misato will live this round.) SO HE MIGHT STILL DIE AND THIS TIME HE DOESN'T EVEN GET TO BE OUTLIVED BY HIS ADORABLE WATERMELON PATCH? ;w;


+ The S-DAT going to track 27 OMFG SHIT JUST GOT REAAAAAAAAAL



+ Shinji's BAMF moment: THE MOST AMAZING THING TO EVER HAPPEN IN THIS SERIES EVER.


+ I think Ricchan is the only character who hasn't changed at all. :( And I wish they'd kept the deleted scene with her suggesting that Rei buy cuter underwear because OMG RICCHAN YOU ARE SUCH A CREEPERRRRR. :(


+ "The appearance of Unit-08. And its pilot is...?!"

SOURYUU ASUKA LANGELY, BITCHES.

THEY BETTER PAINT IT RED FOR HER. <3


+ And in conclusion, Ogata Megumi deserves a lifetime achievement award for her work on this series.


The recording for Eva 2.0 was split up and done over a period of a few days, and the recording on the last day had me basically shouting for the entire time. ... In the end, I just couldn’t stay standing anymore and collapsed on the studio floor, and while I was sitting on the ground, Director Anno came in and sat on the studio floor with me. While sitting, he said, “Thank you very much,” and I replied, “Thank you, too,” and we shook hands. (laughs) This was the first time I got praised by Anno.

And then he said two things to me which made me really happy. The first was: “Thank you, for keeping the character’s feelings unchanged even after 13 years.”

And second was: “On top of that, thank you, for adding 13 years of your own experience to the current Shinji."

Her choices are still pretty good! More than two options = SHE'S GONNA CLEAN UP. I'll be happy if she makes it out alive at least. Ricchan seems doomed no matter what universe she's in, Misato needs that second chance to continue being awesome.

Only vaguely related, but I think you might get along with my buddy monophobia. She's my age, in Japan right now (she's a linguistics gal) and she's a long time Misato fan too. I've got both of you going Eva mad on my FL every day and I keep thinking "IF ONLY THEY WERE TALKING TOGETHER, THINK OF THE MISATO-RELATED CONVERSATIONS THEY COULD HAVE!"

I always viewed Eva as something that I had to see, but having already seen it then I didn't have to see it again. Your picspams are now at the point where I'm interested in seeing these movies when they're finally available for me to view.
