The SUPER HOT WARDROBE CK was wearing at the funeral and with Chloe at the end screamed NOT CK!! to me, so I'm with you on that.

Never knew DC was unhappy about Jimmy's age being different, is he REALLY that much younger than CK and LL? Not too familiar with their ages, and Smallville all having actors older than their characters discombobulated my DC age knowledge.

Overall, not too impressed with the finale. I'm a little horrified that this was how the series would've ended if it didn't get picked up for another season. At least they have crap to explain in the season premiere in September though?

The SUPER HOT WARDROBE was actually pretty much exactly what he's been wearing to the DP since he quit with the red and blue, though. He's worn that same sexy long black jacket multiple times over the past few episodes.

But aside from him treating Chloe like shit as a total 180 from him worrying over her the past two weeks, his shifty, "Oh yeah, totally dealt with the plot offscreen," answer about taking care of Dooms was very much like when Bizarro showed up the second time pretending to be Clark (as Clark was actually stranded dealing with the plot offscreen).

Aaron Ashmore said in an interview that he had been told after the fact that DC didn't like Jimmy being the same age as Clark since Jimmy should be about ten years younger (but idk why this is a sticking point for Jimmy when they had no problem with the SV Kents being way younger, and I definitely don't recall LnC Jimmy being that much younger than Lois and Clark either...) but the writers really wanted to use a same-age Jimmy. So they had promised DC in advance that they would be like, "LOL IT'S NOT REALLY JIMMY OLSEN FOR REALS," at the end. Which is so fucking stupid.

I feel pretty much even more 100% surer now that Chloe is the real Lois (since DC objecting to something so minor as Jimmy's age makes me think they can't be down with Lois sleeping with her editor) but way to ruin the Chloe=Lois twist that's had hints from S1 in advance, with a crappy Diet Coke version of it with Jimmy.

Yeah, I remember the Bizarro bit. I guess they left it off like this so that 1) if season 9 happened, they could be like "Alright, let's 'explain' that it was Bizarro who came out and that's why he was especially an ass even though Clark is almost always an ass to Chloe 2) if season 9 didn't happen, CK died, Superman lives! So stupid.

Wow, that's REALLY stupid about Jimmy. I guess that's what happens when the higher ups get a word in, but I honestly think they would've pulled something just as stupid if DC didn't tamper with them. I felt slapped in the face at his funeral, with the whole HENRY JAMES OLSEN thing, and then his brother. I mean, that's how things roll in comic books, but it just... does not translate well to TV shows -- especially when it's blatantly obvious that they wanted Jimmy version 1 to actually be the Jimmy.

It is ridiculous that the Doomsday fight was that lame. I expected much more than Clark getting bloodied up and then somehow superjumping he and Dooms to the plant. They probably didn't show what happened for budget/next season reasons, but UGH, I at least wanted to see a REACTION to the explosion from all the characters involved! Even the JL was way overhyped.

If this season's finale was that fail, I'm a little scared for next season's. You know the show is totally going to get cancelled by next season, so what kind of crappy finale will we get then?!

The network almost canceled it this year. The writers were supposedly asked by the network to write double scripts for the final eps. I think this is true because ED was initially contracted for last week's ep and they wrote her out of it. So if this had been the series finale, more stuff would have happened last week, and this week would have been more like the wrapup episode.

If it's any comfort, this episode was got the second-worst ratings in the history of Smallville. (Or close to. It's in the top three or four.) A finale and it got those ratings. This shit is beyond canceled; they would have never been renewed for next year if they hadn't gotten the Lana ratings bump midseason and the network had picked them up early. So next year is definitely the end, no question, and they can set it up.

Except it will probably still suck.

I wonder if more realistically they didn't decided after Bride aired, they would have been writing the middle sets of episodes then. I just want to know what triggered it, because while I totally buy that Almiles lied to get him on -- they totally wrote him as real Jimmy.

I STILL don't believe it was Clark at the end, but if it was, the smart thing to do would have been for Jimmy to find out Clark's secret in Stiletto when Clark got shot. He could have helped look for Chloe in Offscreensville when she went missing, been integrated into Team Kent, and then the IT'S ALL MY FAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULT bullshit on Clark's end might have actually almost rung true.

Why WOULDN'T you want to kill off Clark? How is that not more narratively interesting as a jumpoff point next year than the crap we got? And the only thing that's keeping me clinging to hope is the belief that it wasn't really Clark at the end, because the idea of telling CHLOE that humanity is worthless after everything she has sacrificed for him is BULLSHIT. I was ridiculously moved by his cheesy letter to Metropolis in the beginning, it was so Superman.

And he takes it all back because...Davis was a meanie so Clark is taking his toys and going home and humanity (and by extension, Chloe) can suck it? AGAIN, if they really wanted to sell Clark giving up on everyone, there are a MILLION better ways to sell that with buildup, and all the pieces were there.

S6/S8: was utter shit the first half. Had awesome comic booky midseason episode. The final half contained episodes made of awesome that made up for a lot of shit (Freak, Progeny, Turbulence, Eternal) even though the episodes that sucked really sucked (Trespass, Hex), but even that was aaaalmost okay since then we got the BEST EPISODE EVER (Nemesis, Beast)

then they ruined everything in the finale. AGAINNNNNNNNNNNN.

Aw man, when I saw your reply to my previous cheerleading, the first line made me all ":D Yay~! ♥!" but then I scrolled the page down and saw the rest and it turned into "DX!!!" I totally saw this drunk post coming. I'm guessing Season 10 will be flying a big "SET SAIL FOR FAIL" banner. If there's any mercy in the hearts of these writers who were once men, the season will get axed before it gets enough momentum to kick you full on in the stomach.

I gotta say, a miniscule part of me was wondering if watching random eps of SV would be worth the lulz, but the rest of me knew better, and you're pretty much putting the master finishing stroke on this portrait of a show that noone can watch and like without having no respect for anything or anyone whatsoever. DX; It pretty much sounds like what I figured from the start - to like SV, you'd have to almost hate Superman, and then hate yourself. Get out. I think everyone's conclusions were pretty much the same. Mine just had the added end result of not being able to walk without clinging to the wall when the episode was over.
