BECAUSE I DO NOT LIKE BEING DEBBIE DOWNER ABOUT THIS SHOW (and the show seems to be giving me no reason to be optimistic): PICSPAM OF HAPPIER TIMES.

S1 and S2 in HD aren't great quality compared to the more recent seasons where they actually shot for HD. With the more recent episodes you can see everyone's pores, the early years not so much. Buuuut since my DVDs have capping issues they are much better than my old capped files. I got mega excited capping Tempest, because you could see all the hairpins in Chloe's hair, which I had never noticed before on the DVD. ...I GET EXCITED OVER WEIRD THINGS OKAY

I really am excited for S5 to come out on iTunes though, since that was shot for HD. THAT WILL BE SO SEXY.

But in the meantime, KICKING IT OLDSKOOL.

Um. I actually only watched the Chloe scenes and Ollie being shirtless. And maybe all of the Tess stuff. And the relevant parts of the flashforward. I think. I am not quite sure I saw all of it because, uh. I covered my eyes.

I had the epiphany that while I am emotionally finished...

I really would miss the process of picspamming...?! IDK I LIKE DOING THIS. IT'S A RITUAL.

My priorities are not in check. I am aware of this.

CLARK HAS BANGS AGAIN

I know everyone was like "ooooh he looks so Supermanly with his GIANT FOREHEAD" in S8 but I hated it. AND NOW HIS BANGS ARE BAAAACK. I think this is my favorite Clark haircut EVER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

...Clark's hair is probably the only thing in the premiere I mustered up any real excitement for. Except for Ollie's jeans. (Mmmm.)

Final verdict: fire bad bangs pretty.

This is still my favorite episode. What I love about it is that it was the rare SV moment where they built something up over years and years, and when the payoff they promised finally came, it went out with a bang instead of a whimper.

I think I watched this episode every day for over a week right after it aired. There isn't a single bad scene. Besides the idiot-proof setup of Clark and Lex being trapped in an underground cave together and finally letting all the unsaid things boil to the surface, this was also the episode where I totally fell in love with Lana as a character.

(I think I have capped this episode four different times. First I capped the TV rip when it came out. Then I found the super-HD-TV-rip and capped it again. Then I got the DVDs and capped it on my old PC, but the color settings were fucked without my realizing it. So today is now the fourth (and hopefully final) time. I literally know this episode's frames by heart by this point, where every cappable frame is while slowly skipping through the episode. Sooooo pathetic.)

ATTN: the "Transference" Torch scene is still my favorite thing evar. TWO FAVORITE SHIPS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.

I truly love how on the commentary, JG is like, "Lionel has a biiiig crush on Chloe!" and the writers are like, "WE AREN'T WRITING IT THAT WAY, PLEASE STOP PUSHING THE ICKY AGE-INAPPROPRIATE WRONGNESS AND YET! THIS MOMENT IS SO CRUEL!" and JG's pretty much like, yeah, that and he also wants in her pants. And the writers are like, BUT...BUT IN AN EVIL, CRUEL WAY.

CLIONEL: If Lionel Luthor ever managed to get out of prison, what do you suppose he'd do? About you, I mean?
ME: Apparently attempt to put the moves on you, bring you flowers spontaneously, and pass the yams. IN THAT ORDER.

Also, why did this scene get deleted from YouTube, so I can't link to iiiit. :( Here's the episode promo, though. From back when the biggest problem from the WB's promotional department was that year when they referred to new episodes as "fresh" episodes. I remember complaining about how dumb that was, and yet I watch the trailer and realize we didn't know how good we had iiiit. D:

Man, not much love for "Fade" in the poll, huh? I think that episode is the prettiest of the four I put up, too. But this episode is awesome and I think it's one of everyone's favorites, so no real surprise.

Part one of what may become an ongoing picspam series entitled, "Chloe Sullivan is a reporter, you fucking hacks that call yourselves a writing staff." OR MAYBE WE CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING MORE CATCHY. Suggestions welcome!

AND I THINK IT CAN. I THINK WE CAN MAKE IT WORK THIS TIME.

(What I like even more is that "Abyss" is nine episodes in, while this is eight from the end... Keeps with the mirror imagery for the year, and how the finale will almost certainly finish off with Clark dying again in Chloe's arms, just like in the premiere. I am liking this episode more and more. All of the mirrors and the SWF'ing feel like they're flipping back around and we're going back to where we should be.)
